How To Use Anti Slice Golf Adjustments As Quick Fixes
April 17, 2007
If you tend to slice the golf ball occasionally when on the course, then some anti slice golf tips might come in useful to you as quick temporary fixes until you can finish your round.Professional players know all of these, but amateurs, and especially rookies, might be unaware of what they can do, or even of the effects if they do know. Here are three of them that are commonly used by professionals and good amateur golfers.
A Damage Limitation Exercise Can Be Effective The effect of a golf slice to a normal right handed player is to send the ball out to the right. This can frequently be quite far out to the right and into trees, other obstacles or even the next fairway or green. What you need is a damage limitation exercise that can save you from dropping any strokes at best and as few as possible at worst.
The first is based upon the visible effect of the ball curving out to the right (or left for a left handed player). It is quite logical to think that if your ball lands too far right than you should aim out to the left of the target. This is not a good way to deal with a slice on a long term basis, but it can be used as a quick fix if your slice develops during a round, and you recognize it for what it is. Simply aim left by the amount that you are landing right.
Many people find this difficult to do, since their ball can land twenty or thirty yards right of where they were aiming, and find it difficult to aim away out to the left of the trees that you should be avoiding to the right.
Sometimes it is just not possible to do that on a narrow fairway without clattering the ball into the trees, but more frequently it can be done. Many amateur golfers actually use this as a permanent solution and never cure their swing. They just compensate for it and play a curved game for the rest of their lives.
The shortest distance between two points is not a curve, and players who do this are losing a lot of distance on each shot, but if that suits them, and they are enjoying their game, then why not! They could, however, strengthen their grip a bit.
This is done by gripping the club more clockwise round the shaft and is the method that I recommend to you. Doing this turns the club face round to the ball quicker, and so straightens it up more before hitting the ball.
Many Slicers Use The Wrong Grip
Many slicers are using the wrong grip that causes their club face to be too open when it hit the ball. This means that it is turned slightly back at the toe when the ball is struck, which causes the clockwise spin on the ball that leads to the slice. A stronger grip can be a permanent cure for many players.
Others prefer the third possibility, which is to change the feet slightly. In the perfect swing, your feet should be in a line directly to the target. If your ball is curving offline out to the right, perhaps your feet are pointing in that direction, and they need turned slightly more to the left. This will do one of three things.
It will either cure your golf slice or make it worse. It could also cause you to simply drive your ball out to the left, but that is unlikely if you are slicing it. There are a number of possible rapid remedies for a golf slice, and in many cases which of these anti slice golf adjustments you choose to make will depend upon the cause of your particular slice.
If you cannot tell, then try a quick strengthening of your grip, and then aim to the left if that does not work. You don’t have time to practice during a round, but you should be aware of the possibilities so that you can apply them when necessary. The answer to many golfing problems.

A Golf Betting Tip For Everbody
April 16, 2007
Probably the best golf betting tip you can be given is to know your game before you bet. Never leave your bet entirely to chance or you are likely to lose. You might know how to play golf, but do you really understand the game? Do you know the players and what their strengths and weaknesses are? Do you understand the courses and what specific demands they place upon players?
Get to Know the Course and the Players
If not, before any tournament that you intend to bet on, read up as much as possible about the golf course involved and the players. If the course is long who are the big hitters in the field, and how have they done on this course in the past? What types of players tend to win the Masters at Augusta? The more you know about the course and the players, as well as the history of the competition, then the more likely you are to make proper money, rather than just betting on Tiger Woods to win all the time.
This will not give you a great return on your money. It would be far better if you could pick out golfers who seem to suit the course, and bet on them. Don’t bet on them necessarily to win, but to be placed. This could be at least second or third, or to be in the top ten or even to make the cut. The different types of bets you can make in golf are almost limitless.
Three Ball Bets are Popular
Take the three ball bet, for example. For the purpose of your bet you can name three golfers, or two or even more, and bet on a single round for one of them to have to the lowest round. You can make a lot of money if you are able to match players to a particular course from past performance or even current form. You can do this for each round
There are, of course, two kinds of betting on a golf course, the first being as above, where you bet on a particular outcome in a game. However, golfers often bet between themselves, and there are a few different ways in which this can be done.
A popular bet is the Nassau, where you bet on the lowest score for the front nine, the back nine and the whole round. Non professional players often go for the $2 bet, so there is not a lot of money involved. However, regardless of what money is involved, a good tip with a Nassau is to press when your bet looks like going down on the front nine.
There are no strict rules on pressing, so make sure you know the rule being applied when you do it. For example, if you are down a hole or two while on the sixth hole, you can press holes 6 – 9 with another $2 bet. If you win over these three, either you and your opponent both win, or it’s a wash. But make sure you know the rules. You can press on the front nine or the back nine, or at anytime over the whole round.
Bet on the Traps and the Trees
Another series of popular bets between buddies relates to specific accomplishments. For example in Sandies, a golfer wins the bet by making par after being in a sand trap, or by getting up and down from a trap. In barkies, the bet is one making a par after hitting a tree. The amount paid to each person accomplishing the feat is decided beforehand.
Arnies is a good one, whereby the player wins by making par without having hit the fairway, though a favorite is Gruesomes involving teams of two. Each player drives off, and each twosome decides which of the drives the other pair should play – usually the most ‘gruesome’ of the twosome!
There are not many tips that can be provided for these type of bets, but if you are thinking of betting serious money on the outcome of tournaments, a good golf betting tip you can be given is that if you do not know the game, the courses or the players very well, then don’t do it!
Improve Your Putting Stroke For Golf
April 16, 2007
Putting is a huge part of your game and golf score. Almost 50% for most amateurs! With that number being so high, do you think you should work on your golf putting stroke to improve your score?
The mechanics of the stroke for putting are mostly ignored, and yet…if improved, could save more than a handful of strokes off your score! You can look at two apsects of the stroke to keep it somewhat simple.
The path of the stroke and the tempo. These two factors can directly affect any putt. Some of the issues with path are things like body movement. Many of us will get eager to look where the ball is going soon after contact. This will take us out of our posture and cause a mishit putt. Nine times out of ten you will miss the putt.
Focus on keeping your head down long after you’ve hit the putt. Another issue is being a “handsy” putter. Putting from your wrists and not your shoulders. The putter moves back and forth from the shoulders not your wrists.
Tempo is crucial. Getting quick and jabbing at the putt will not promote a smooth tempo with solid contact. Think of rythm! Do a count in your head on every putt. Count slowly one back, then two through. Do this on EVERY putt! Also, think of bringing your putter head smoothly all the way through the ball encouraging good contact and not a “hit” of the ball.
Remember…putting is half your score! Improve it just a little bit and you’ll shave at least 2-3 strokes off your score easily!
My Personal Recommendation
If you are looking for a reliable golf putting resource, I would stronly recommend you take a look at the instantly downloadable Putting Breakthrough ebook! This ebook will give you simple tips and drills to improve every aspect of your putting, including your golf stroke!
Get Lessons In Your Golf Pro Shop
April 12, 2007
How many times have you been milling about in your local golf pro shop and got a quick lesson to apply to your golf swing? It’s happened to me many times. You see…most of the teaching pro also work in there golf stores. They can’t book their entire day for just lessons, so they have to fill that time in the pro shop.
This is a great place to pick the brain of your local teaching pro! They usually are bored and have the time to talk golf. Why not pick that opportune time to fix your golf swing? I have done this and it works!
Find out when you instructor is in the proshop and seek him/her out. Start talking golf, and slowly move into your own golf swing and frustrations your are experiencing on the course. In a matter of minutes, you’ll be getting answers to your swing questions.
If you’re determined enough, you can get any information you need to improve your game. Be resourceful! Think out of the box! Any time you can get the attention of your pro for a quick lesson do it! If you pick the right time, it will work beautifully.
In your pro shop you may also run into some of your clubs best players. You can get an informal lesson from them also! They have achieved a better swing than you, so you can learn from them! Again…pick the right time to not be viewed as a nag.
If you’re the shy type, you might want to do your golf swing research on your own. If so, a great resource is an instantly downloadable ebook called Golf Swing Eureka! This book will open your eyes to a different way to approach your golf improvement.
I strongly recommend you go take a look!
An ESPN Golf School Is Great For Beginners
April 9, 2007
If you are just starting out in golf, or one of your children is at an age where they are ready for some professional instruction, you could hardly do better than send them for a day to an ESPN Golf School. These schools tour round the country offering one day instruction courses designed for complete beginners and for experienced professionals, though they are focused so that different abilities do not mix.
Your Youngster is Provided with all the Golf Equipment Needed
Along with the coaching, your youngster will also be provided with a Nike golf bag, a wood and set of irons, and a putter. Everything they need, in fact, to start playing and make use of the great schooling they are about to receive. The golf balls are not mentioned, but I am sure they will there somewhere! You can’t fault the instruction provided that covers every part of the game, not only the mechanics.
Instruction is provided not only in the basic grip, stance and golf swing, but also other essential aspects of golf, such as scoring and golf etiquette, that most people pick up as they play. It really is a wonderful day for a youngster, and designed for those that have never played before and don’t yet have their own equipment. The ESPN Beginners Tour is not restricted to youngsters of course, and anybody who wants to take up the game can join.
Resort Schools offer Top Class Facilities
If you are more experienced, there are three day resort schools available where you can either commute to the course or take up one of the residential packages available. These are not cheap, but you get what you pay for including some ‘free’ apparel and golfing equipment thrown in. All included in the price, of course! The courses are excellent, such as the Badlands Golf Club in Las Vegas and the accommodation five star, exemplified by that provided by the Deerhurst Resort in Toronto.
If you are more advanced, and are looking for something a bit more personal, the Hank Haney Signature Golf School offers one to one tuition from Hank, the Dean of Instruction. This includes the Nike custom club fitting system and the instruction includes coaching in all aspects of the game, including course management.
Get a Fitted Driver at the ESPN Power School
Those who need a bit of work done on their length can join the Power Tour where you are given instruction in the four key elements of a powerful drive: swing mechanics, ball prescription, club fitting and fitness and flexibility. You are given a fitted Nike driver, golf balls and a power swing trainer to help you along. All included in the price.
Alternatively, you might have a corporate day coming up. You can either host a private ESPN Golf School at your local course, or ESPN can visit your corporate event and provide services such a video imaging of the swing of your clients, demonstrations of club fitting and even follow-up online tuition based on the video swing analysis, that you can use as a marketing tool to keep in touch with potential customers.
You get What you Pay For
An ESPN Golf School is not only great for beginners and tournament pros, but can also help your company in its business activities. The down side is the cost, and while that rarely matters with corporate events, the residential resort courses can be expensive. The beginner’s courses, however, are excellent value given the equipment provided with the tuition.
Golf Slicing is a Common Problem
April 7, 2007
Golf slicing is a problem that most golfers have, and unless they are supermen, all golfers have had at one time or other in their golfing careers. This is a problem that can be resolved, though in order to do so it helps to understand the reason why you are slicing. In order to understand this, let’s have a look at what a golf slice is. A slice is when you drive a golf ball and it initially heads of in the direction of strike. This may not be the direction you intend, but is the direction in which your swing sends it. It then starts to swing off right, or left if you are left handed, so we shall discuss right handed golfers here. The directions are reversed for left handed golfers.
Golf Slicing is all about spin. The reason for this is that the ball has a left to right spin, or a clockwise spin, imparted on it by the club. This is because the angle of the swing and the angle of the golf club are not at right angles to one another.
This can happen in two ways. The swing could be perfectly straight to target, and the club face be lagging behind, and therefore hits the ball at a back angle and imparts a clockwise spin to it.
Alternatively, the club could be perfectly aligned, straight on to the ball, but you are swinging across the ball. This will have exactly the same effect, and the ball will take on a clockwise spin. The Cure for your slice depends on the cause.
In the first case the ball will start off straight to target, then after a while, as the spin takes an increasingly greater effect, will drift off to the right. In the second case, the ball may start off left due to the angle of the swing, but then drifts right and again ends up well right of target. Let’s have a look at both cases, and what is required to cure the problem. The cure for each may be different, which is why it is important to find out the cause of the slice before making any changes to your swing or grip. Change your stance or strengthen your grip.
If your swing is fine, apart from the clubface being too open when you strike the ball, you should take steps to close the face earlier than normal. You can achieve this by turning your grip a bit to the left: that is by strengthening it.
Then, when your swing straightens up for the strike, your grip has turned the club face round to where it should be and the ball will fly without spin. In the second case, you should change your stance slightly, or keep your chest back, so that at the moment of strike your body is not preceding your arms toward the target. Your swing will then be straight at the target as passes through the ball, and your ball will again fly straight without any spin. Identify the cause of your golf slicing, apply one of these two techniques, then the chances are that you will have cured your slice. Identify the cause, know the cure and then apply it! The answer to many golfing problems.

Golf Instruction Tips For Driving Longer
April 1, 2007
Golfers are always trying to get instruction tips for golf driving technique to produce longer drives more consistently. The golf driver is a swing that is slightly different than say a wedge or middle iron swing.
You’ll here many instructors say the swing should be the same for every club. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but pure physics of a driver swing is slightly modified. Just take a look at all the pros at address with their driver and then with a middle or short iron. You will definitely see a difference!
With your driver being the longest club in your bag, with the biggest head, and the least amount of loft on the clubface, you need to make a few simple adjustments to maximize this club. These driving tips do not have to be difficult or hard to understand.
In fact, I’ll give you 3 very easy ones right now!
1) Widen your stand for a more stable base, as you will be swinging at a higher swing speed with your driver.
2) Move the ball off the inside heel of front foot to be hitting up on the ball at impact, not down.
3) Slightly tilt your spine away from the ball to also promote a naturally upward blow to the ball.
4) Stay behind the ball at impact! This is critical. If you move ahead of it, you’ll hit a block or slice to the right.
These simple tips will help you maximize your distance with your driver. Simple golf instruction like this is all you need, but if you have more going on with your game, I would strongly recommend you taking a look at a fantastic golf instruction ebook called Break 80.
Don’t let the name fool you. Even if you are a 90’s shooter, you can still get a lot out of this book. Take a look right now!
