Golf instruction can be very overwhelming! Too many golfers go through the “paralysis-by-analysis” syndrome. Too much in the brain at one time! Golf instruction can be anything from reading a golf magazine, watching the Golf Channel, or working with a teaching pro.
The end-goal in golf should be to “simplify your golf swing!” No 62-point checklist! No weird swing thoughts or pre-shot routines. Just a simple method that you can repeat over and over again!
That’s the most effective golf instruction I can think of. Making it simple enough that a 30 handicap golfer can see improvements very quickly. Try to do too much all at once and you’ll watch your golf swing go south way beyond where it was when you started.
The best instruction for golf is one that focuses on a golfers specific swing fault until that swing fault is no longer. That may take several lessons and a few trips to the range with prescribed drills, but in the long run, this is the MOST effective approach to take in regards to golf instruction for a better game.
As amateur golfers, we don’t have 8 hours a day to bang balls and play golf. We’re lucky enougth to play once a week with no practice. This does not warrant a high level of golf performance, but that may be all we’ve got given our other commitments in our lives.
To take the clutter out of our brains with instruction that is easy to understand, and quickly applicable, we can see faster results giving us more enthusiasm to continue playing.
