I used to be a golf tip junkie. I mean…read every magazine the day it came out; bought every golf video; and would listen to anyone who had a golf swing tip I thought I could use. The end result was too much going on in my little brain to make a simple golf swing.
Now…having paid my dues and playing to a single digit handicap, I can attest to realizing that there are a few golden nuggets out there that can really help your game, and there are a ton of worthless ones that can kill your game.
Here’s a simple swing tip I use on every shot that gets me focused on where I want the ball to go. That’s not to say it always goes there, but I try my best. This tip, is actually a preshot routine tip, more than it is an actual golf swing tip.
Here goes!
Before EVERY shot I get behind the ball and look at my target, or if it’s my tee shot, I look at where in the fairway I want the ball to go. Then I let my eyes follow all the way back to where I am standing, where I find a weed in the grass or something that is about 2 feet in front of the ball.
I am lining up my eyesite to know without a doubt my set up is parallel to the target line I want. So after I get that weed, or dead piece of grass, I stay focused on it until and now walk to the side of the ball and get lined up, parallel to that line I’ve made with my eyes. This insures I am always parallel to my intended target, and am giving myself the best opportunity at hitting an accurate shot.
Give it a try!
