Golf Academy - Short Game Instruction

Published in Golf Putting Instruction

Have you ever been to a golf academy for your short game?  Instruction geared to your scoring clubs can shave many strokes off your score almost overnight!

You’ve most likely have heard of the very popular short game clinics by the Dave Pelz group.  His teaching pros travel the country giving 1,2 and 3 day short game clinics and instruction.  They are not cheap, but very useful and worth a look if they are in your locale.

The Golf Channel Academy Live show also has many segments on the short game, with some of the top instructors in the world.  Hank Haney, Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, and many others have been on the show numerous times throughout the years.

Bunker Play

How many balls have you left in the bunker?  How embarrassing to take a hack at the ball and it doesn’t come out.  I’ve been there and done that!  All it takes is a few of these occurrences in one round and you’ll be on a mission to fix this!  Getting some quality information is your first step.

Pitching

You want to talk about your knees knocking!  How about a 30-50 shot over water onto the green?  Just walking up to a scenario like that is enough to chunk it in the water.  There are some simple ways to ensure total confidence in this shot and many others like it.  Check out the resources below!

Chipping

Chipping should be so easy!  You’re just off the green and you need to advance it to the hole.  The ball doesn’t hardly go in the air, and yet we thin it, chunk it and just plain hit a terrible shot.  Just think how many strokes you’ve lost in one round be not being able to chip it close enough to the hole to sink your putt and save par or maybe bogey?

Do you need a “full on” golf academy?

That’s the question you need to ask yourself.  You can go it alone with the below dvd’s, or you can seek out a golf academy or clinic in your locale.  The latter will cost you several hundred dollars!

Short Game Resources

Instruction for your short game is very important in lowering your golf scores.  Approximately have of your shots in golf are around the short game.  In fact, almost half are from putting alone.  A fantastic putting resource is a dvd I took a look at several months ago that I thought was very good.  The Pure Point Putting DVD will shave a handful of strokes off your score very quickly!

You don’t have to go to a “big name” clinic like Pelz’s, but even an instruction book or dvd would really help.  There is so much out there to choose from, you really need to get a reference from a golfing buddy, or someone who has benefited from it.  One dvd you might consider is the Pure Point Short Game DVD.  This dvd covers all aspects of your scoring clubs.
