Golf Putting Drill To Drain Those 4 Footers
February 3, 2007
How many 4 footers do you miss during a round? I’ll bet atleast 3-4…maybe more! As amateurs, we should make 50-60% of those without too much troubel. Why is it that we don’t then?
The main reason is confidence. We don’t practice that distance enough, and with a little bit of pressure during a round, we’ll miss more than we make. With just a little bit of practice we can dramatically improve our confidence and make more of those putts for birdies, or at least par.
Golf Putting Drill
You may have heard this one before…but I do this one every week and it’s helped me with this range putt consistently.
Take 5 golf balls and step off 4 feet from the hole. Drop a ball down. Now if you want to be anal…take a string from the hole to the ball and just start going around the hole dropping a ball about every 4 feet or so.
Now you’ve got the hole surrounded with balls that are exactly 4 feet way. Try to putt every ball in the hole going around the circle. If you miss one…start over! Do this until you make all balls in succession. When you do…the drill is done for the day!
Give it a try! I’m confident you’ll see a big improvement on your short putts on the course.
