Golf Putting Tip To Avoid The Dreaded 3 Putt
January 11, 2007
How many times have you 3-putted during a round? If you’re like me…it is probably between 1-5 times. How many strokes is that per round we’re losing? Just think if we could improve our putting and have no 3-putts? That’s a very realistic goal, but you’ve got to get a handle on your putting woes or it’ll never happen!
There are so many golf tips out there, you could easily get “paralysis-by-analysis” and never see improvement. You end-goal should be to simplify your golf game. I know…easier said than done, but that’s what you need to do. So every facet of the game, whether it be putting, chipping, pitching, wedges or your driver…try to make it as easy as you can, with minimal swing thoughts per shot (hopefully none, or maybe one).
Putting Tip
Triple the size of the hole and you’ll get it much closer every time!
You may have heard of this before, but are you doing it everytime you have a longer putt? Don’t try to make a 20 foot putt if you’re a 15 or above handicapper. Try to get it within a 3 foot circle of the hole. That’s your ONLY goal. You’re not trying to make it, you’re going to get it in the slightly larger circle to have an easy tap in for your two putt.
You can do many drills on the putting greens with this approach. You can even take some string and outline the bigger circle and try to get it in that circle from 15 feet, 20 feet, and evey longer.
With just a little practice, you will no longer have to deal with 3-putts anymore!
Personal Recommendation
If you want to simplify your putting, and obliterate those dreaded three and four putts forever…then I would take a look at the Pure Point Putting DVD.
If you like your material in written form, you should take a look at the Golf Putting Breakthroughs ebook. Download it and print it right off your computer in less than 2 minutes!
