An ESPN Golf School Is Great For Beginners

April 9, 2007

If you are just starting out in golf, or one of your children is at an age where they are ready for some professional instruction, you could hardly do better than send them for a day to an ESPN Golf School. These schools tour round the country offering one day instruction courses designed for complete beginners and for experienced professionals, though they are focused so that different abilities do not mix.

Your Youngster is Provided with all the Golf Equipment Needed

Along with the coaching, your youngster will also be provided with a Nike golf bag, a wood and set of irons, and a putter. Everything they need, in fact, to start playing and make use of the great schooling they are about to receive. The golf balls are not mentioned, but I am sure they will there somewhere! You can’t fault the instruction provided that covers every part of the game, not only the mechanics.

Instruction is provided not only in the basic grip, stance and golf swing, but also other essential aspects of golf, such as scoring and golf etiquette, that most people pick up as they play. It really is a wonderful day for a youngster, and designed for those that have never played before and don’t yet have their own equipment. The ESPN Beginners Tour is not restricted to youngsters of course, and anybody who wants to take up the game can join.

Resort Schools offer Top Class Facilities

If you are more experienced, there are three day resort schools available where you can either commute to the course or take up one of the residential packages available. These are not cheap, but you get what you pay for including some ‘free’ apparel and golfing equipment thrown in. All included in the price, of course! The courses are excellent, such as the Badlands Golf Club in Las Vegas and the accommodation five star, exemplified by that provided by the Deerhurst Resort in Toronto.

If you are more advanced, and are looking for something a bit more personal, the Hank Haney Signature Golf School offers one to one tuition from Hank, the Dean of Instruction. This includes the Nike custom club fitting system and the instruction includes coaching in all aspects of the game, including course management.

Get a Fitted Driver at the ESPN Power School

Those who need a bit of work done on their length can join the Power Tour where you are given instruction in the four key elements of a powerful drive: swing mechanics, ball prescription, club fitting and fitness and flexibility. You are given a fitted Nike driver, golf balls and a power swing trainer to help you along. All included in the price.

Alternatively, you might have a corporate day coming up. You can either host a private ESPN Golf School at your local course, or ESPN can visit your corporate event and provide services such a video imaging of the swing of your clients, demonstrations of club fitting and even follow-up online tuition based on the video swing analysis, that you can use as a marketing tool to keep in touch with potential customers.

You get What you Pay For

An ESPN Golf School is not only great for beginners and tournament pros, but can also help your company in its business activities. The down side is the cost, and while that rarely matters with corporate events, the residential resort courses can be expensive. The beginner’s courses, however, are excellent value given the equipment provided with the tuition.
