If you want some golf slice tips that can help you get rid of your slice and lower your handicap, you should first make the effort to find out the real cause of a slice. Why are you slicing that golf ball? What are you doing wrong? It’s important that you know, so that you know how to put it right.
An important thing to keep in mind when getting frustrated as you work on your slice, because people do get frustrated till it all clicks together, is that even the best of the best play a slice shot now and again. How often have you see Tiger Woods find the trees? That’s a slice, pure and simple. These players don’t push the ball, but theysure can slice.
If you swing straight and the ball still slices, it will start off straight at the target. Then it will begin to fade off to the right, and then really start to swing out and you end up with a full blown slice. How far can it go off center? Miles. . . well, not literally, but it can travel up to 7 or 8 yards for every degree off center in a 200 yard drive. That’s not a long drive. So you can be 24 yards off target with a modest three degrees off square with your club face at strike. That’s a lot! That’s another fairway! Or even another green!
You have to cure it, so here’s how. Your slice happens because you spin the ball clockwise when you hit it. That happens because your club face is lagging behind your drive, so your swing straightens out before the club is fully closed. If you strike at this point the club face will hit the ball at an angle, and spin it, leading to a slice.
On the other hand if your drive is across the golf ball that is not straight into it, but slightly off left and your club face has leveled up with the ball, you will again spin the ball, it will start of slightly to the left then swing out to the right. The end result will again be a slice. That’s two ways you can slice the ball. There are more, but these are the two most common: hitting across the ball, and failing to close the club at strike.
The cure is not to do these things. One of the best golf slice tips you can have is to strengthen your grip. A stronger grip, with your grip turned round a bit anti-clockwise, can cure most slices. That is the most common effective cure, but it doesn’t work with everyone. It works by pulling the shaft round a bit more on the strike, and so closing the club face so that it is straight onto the golf ball when it hits it.
Strengthening your grip is the best way to attempt to cure your slice. Try it on the practice range first and get it right. Golf slice tips don’t come better than this!
