Every golfer wants more distance in their golf swing. Is there a magic bullet? I don’t know about that, but I know when I swing a weighted golf club I seem to hit longer drives almost right away!
You see…swinging a heavy club is the most golf-specific you could ever get in strengthening your golf swing muscles. Nothing else compares! Golfers who try to hit more balls, or get the latest driver mostly fail to achieve this because they have not improved the power in their body.
Weighted Golf Club

This is a lot like what the baseball players do before each at-bat. They swing their bat with a weighted doughnut on the end to loosen them up. The same goes for golfers. Swinging a weighted club is a training adaptation to strengthen the specific muscles of your golf swing that produce power.
Sport Specific Training
You can also refer to it as “sport-specific” training! This is where you are taking the same movements of the sport (swinging a golf club), but adding resistance to it for an adaptive response. Do this just a few times and your normal club will feel light as a feather.
Whenever you can increase the weight of an implement you use in sport, whether it be a shot put, baseball bat, or a golf club, you can dramatically improve the power output specific to that sport movement.
Increase Distance In Your Golf Swing
The end result is LONGER drives! Isn’t that what every golfer wants? To blast it the longest in their foursome? To know confidently they can step up to the tee and hit it long almost everytime? This is the ticket to longer drives. Give it a try!
